The Highlands County Traffic Operations Department is Responsible for Maintaining all traffic control devices: signs, signals, pavement markings and devices placed on, over, or adjacent to county maintained streets or highways to regulate, warn or guide traffic. The Department also maintains traffic signals and street lighting along most of the State road system.

Eddie Cardona, Traffic Operations Supervisor

Our Mission: Follow the standards set in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The sign crew performs general maintenance on signs such as straightening, cleaning, and replacement. Traffic signs are replaced only when damaged, stolen or are no longer performing to required reflectivity standards. Crews also respond to emergency calls for knocked down signs and malfunctioning traffic light repair as needed.
