ELECTRONIC WASTE

Electronic equipment is used everyday, from televisions and computers to personal audio systems and cell phones. Many of the components in these electronic items contain hazardous materials such as lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic. While in use, these hazardous materials pose no problem, but when improperly discarded they represent an environmental threat.

Environmental regulations are increasingly focused on this area of disposal. Highlands County's mission is to provide our residents with that needed assurance that their electronic components will be properly handled in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
