John Minor was born in South Bend, Indiana. He grew up there and attended Riley High School. Afterwards he attended Bethel College for three years studying Social Science and Secondary Education. Prior to graduating, he entered the U.S. Army and served in the White House Communications Agency for more than two years. After completing his service in the Army, John returned to Bethel and completed his work for a Bachelor of Arts degree. Subsequently, he completed a Master of Arts degree in Sociology and Political Science at Miichigan State University.
John has worked as a Human Resources Director in private manufacturing, non-profit charitable organizations, as well as public and academic agencies. As Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, Payroll and Risk Management at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, for more than four years, John dealt with a workforce of more than 4,000 public employees. He served as Human Resources Officer for Broward County, Florida Transit Division with more than 1,000 assigned employees.
John is married to the former Joyce Donaldson of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. They have three children -Erin, Heather and Matthew. Matt is currently a senior at the University of Alabama. John also enjoys classical music. John and Joyce have family in the area and plan on making Highlands County their residence for a long time to come.
