Darryl Scott was born in Avon Park, Fl. He is a sixth generation Floridian and a third generation resident of Highlands County. He graduated from Avon Park High School in 1978. He worked with the Florida Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer and Bloodhound handler. While taking Police Standards training at South Florida Junior College, he worked several jobs, one of which was as an Animal Control Officer for Highlands County. In 1980 he went to work for the Highlands County Sheriff's Department as a Jailer and then was promoted to Road Deputy. He held this position until 1989. In January 1990, he became a Wildlife Officer for Florida Fish and Game Commission.
His hobbies include raising and training horses, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Darryl has been married for 24 years and his wife works at a local bank. His son attends South Florida Community College.
